Tuwalinde meaning “Lets protect them” is a project funded by The Foundation for Civil Society (FCS) a local Donor. The project commenced implementation of its first Phase on November 2016 in KIA and Masama Rundugai wards located within Hai district, Kilimanjaro Region. The project is implemented in accordance with the National Plan of Action to End Violence Against Women and Children of 2016- 2022 which envisages and complies with the 2009 Child Act.
The aim of this project is to reduce all forms of violence against women and children and stopping Harmful Tradition Practices. Currently, AJISO is implementing the second phase of the project which has expanded to a new ward of Bomang’ombe which is also in Hai District hence making a total of three wards within the District.
This project is being implemented in partnership with the District Council of Hai to ensure the sustainability post implementation.
The project includes building capacity and strengthening the NPA-VAWC Committees in the respective wards to ensure accountability in responding to violence /abuse incidents in the respective wards.
The children are also reached through establishment of child rights clubs called TUWALINDE where they are taught their rights and responsibilities without forgetting violence/abuse how to defend themselves and where to report such incidents. So far, we have 11 school clubs (2 in secondary schools, 9 in primary schools).
